Still taken from the film 'above the earth for 3 days' - 2013.

This film documements walking up, climbing and sitting in a tree in Kolomenskoye park in Moscow as part of a series of actions performed to correspond with the 2 hours in which 3 calendar days are present on the Earth at once (between 10:00 and 11:59 UTC).

'day time (6 - 6)' - 2013.

A clock working relative to natural light. As sunlight lengthens and shortens throughout the seasons, day time – (6 til 6) instead stretches or contracts the minutes so that sunrise and sunset always occur at 6am and 6pm respectively throughout the year. The minutes on a summer day exceed the conventional 60 seconds, while at night they move faster to compensate - vice versa in winter.
The arithmetic created to perform this function also reads from an attached GPS, which inputs geographical co-ordinates and adjusts the sunrise and sunset times relative to the location of the clock. Consequently, the time displayed by the clock is never the same in two different locations as the length of day is determined by proximity to the north and south poles. This is accurate to such a degree that a clock set at my house in Brunswick is minutely different to one set in the studio in Southbank. An important aspect of day time – (6 til 6) is that when it travels it changes the time accordingly. Timelines become blurred and the political division of local time zones across the globe become irrelevant. Time has not been manipulated here, only the units by which we measure it. In a form of rationalized regression, natural elements once again dictate pace.

'our meridian'  #1 - 2013.

A declaration of a line passing along the longitude of 143.222487° east of Greenwich.

Running through the Russian Far East, intersecting Australia just west of the Cape York Peninsula, it acts as a conceptual bridge between two people. The work evolved from site-specific photographs to insertions of the contour into various geographic documents, including maps and atlases.

Sir William Thomson stated in 1884 to the International Meridian Conference, ‘It cannot be said that one meridian is more scientific than another’.

a blanket woven from the laughter of friends (eine decke aus dem lachen meine freunde) - 2012.

Laughter was taken from a month of recorded conversation and transposed into shades of blue according to tone. The shades were then represented in cotton thread and woven together to form a blanket woven from the laughter of friends.

The gallery space was divided into 5 sections, each climate controlled to be 1°c above or below it's neighbour in an ascending or descending transition from the gallery entrance. Through these subtle contrasts in the perceptible temperature, the notion of our own personal climate began to take over and dictate the experience.
